Know which island your booking is on
Basseterre is on St. Kitts; Charlestown is on Nevis. A listing that says only “St. Kitts and Nevis” names the country, not necessarily the island where an activity begins. Check the venue and meeting point before choosing accommodation, transfers or a tour.
If you plan to visit both islands, build the crossing into the day as a real connection with its own schedule. A transfer, a ferry and a taxi on the other side are separate parts of a journey unless your booking explicitly combines them. Our Nevis day-trip guide explains what to confirm.
Confirm currency before comparing prices
The official local currency is the Eastern Caribbean dollar. Nevis Tourism notes that US dollars are also commonly accepted, but that does not mean every price marked with a dollar sign is in the same currency. Ask whether a quote is in US dollars or EC dollars and how change will be returned.
Confirm card acceptance with the actual business and keep a suitable alternative for small purchases or transport. Compare the complete cost of an experience, including any taxes, transport or optional extras shown at checkout. A lower headline rate may cover fewer people or fewer inclusions than another option.
Make the arrival plan specific
For a hotel stay, confirm your arrival airport or ferry landing and the pickup instructions before travelling. Save the address, meeting time and contact details offline. For a cruise call, save your ship’s all-aboard time and understand the difference between leaving the ship, meeting a group and starting an activity.
The Port Zante planning guide covers cruise-day choices. If you book a direct activity at Carambola, check transport separately; a meeting-at-venue ticket should not be read as an automatic port pickup. Agree your return journey as carefully as the outward one.
Pack for the day you actually booked
For a beach or water activity, bring the swimwear, towel and change of clothes listed by the operator. For a town or heritage outing, choose footwear suited to walking and outdoor surfaces. Keep the bag manageable if you will move between vehicles, attractions and a beach.
Tell the operator about dietary, mobility or participation needs before paying. Ask concrete questions: are there steps, how long will we stand, where are the restrooms, and which ingredients are used? Accurate answers are more useful than a general description such as “suitable for everyone.”
Check changeable details close to travel
Confirm entry documents through official government guidance and your carrier for your nationality and journey. Check current ferry departures, activity times and cancellation terms with the provider. Saved travel articles are useful for orientation, but they should not replace the live rules or the confirmation attached to a booking.
For weather-dependent plans, keep a little flexibility and read the seasonal planning guide. If you have several days, place your most important outdoor activity early enough to discuss another date should the operator need to reschedule. Keep one clear contact for each booking.
Your questions, answered.
What currency is used in St. Kitts and Nevis?
The Eastern Caribbean dollar, abbreviated XCD or EC$. US dollars are also commonly accepted; confirm the currency of each quote and the change you will receive.
Are St. Kitts and Nevis the same island?
No. They are two islands in one country. Check the island and meeting point for every activity and allow for any crossing.
Do I need to arrange transport for a direct stingray booking?
Direct guests meet at Carambola. Pickup is not included; optional transportation can be reviewed at checkout. Compare the encounter options.
